No one managed to hit all the winning numbers in the latest Mega Millions draw, and just like that, the jackpot has ballooned to a whopping $110 million.
The April 7 drawing teased participants with numbers 5, 15, 22, 33 and 37, plus the golden Mega Ball 2. The New York ticket matched everything except that tricky gold ball—so instead of cashing in on the full jackpot, the player walked away with the game’s second-highest prize tier. If they had nailed that last number, they could have chosen between the full jackpot or a lump sum payout of roughly $44.7 million.
Even though no one caught the grand prize, there was plenty of action elsewhere. Across the country, nine lucky tickets won the game’s third-tier prize. Those amounts ranged anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000—still enough to make someone’s week feel a lot better.
With no jackpot winner this round, all eyes are now on the next draw coming up Friday, April 10, which promises a massive $110 million on the line, or $49.2 million if going for the one-time cash option.
Powerball had its own fireworks when a player from Delaware struck gold with a jackpot worth a jaw-dropping $231 million. They’ll get to choose between taking that as an annuity or walking away with $104.3 million in one shot.
