Mega Millions Jackpot Blows Past $800M, Still No Lucky Winner in Sight
After yet another drawing came and went with no jackpot winner, the prize has now skyrocketed to a jaw-dropping $800 million. Eight hundred million bucks are sitting there, waiting for one ticket to change someone’s life overnight.
The big question on everyone’s mind – will Tuesday finally be the night? Nobody knows, but the buzz is real. With a prize that massive, even the cash-out option would still hand over around $400 million after taxes. And since more players are jumping in with hopes to score big, that number will keep climbing until someone hits the right combo.
Mega Millions seems to enjoy teasing players a little. The lottery reminded folks that November has seen its fair share of winning streaks. Since the game kicked off in 2002, there have been 16 jackpots won in November, though the last one was way back in 2016. The biggest November win ever was a $326 million haul in New York in 2014.
Even with the recent bump in ticket prices to $5, people haven’t backed off. More players are lining up, giving the game even more momentum. The bigger the pot, the stronger the temptation.
Friday’s drawing gave us the numbers: 2, 24, 52, 66, 68 and Mega Ball 9. Those didn’t bring home the big one. There’s no shortage of smaller success stories out there. In Massachusetts, one lucky guy who’d already bagged a $1 million win earlier went on to snag an additional $800,000 from eight more tickets.
